This overview helps you find your way. Read the complete instructions above and follow the personal guidance from your surgical team.

Why these precautions matter

These instructions apply when surgery has created a complication between the mouth and sinus. Follow the plan until the team confirms healing.

Avoid pressure on the sinus

Avoid forceful nose blowing for at least two weeks. Sneeze with your mouth open and follow the restrictions on smoking, straws, vigorous rinsing, and forceful spitting.

Eat gently

Choose soft foods for several days and try to chew on the other side. Take medicines as prescribed.

Keep in touch

Some slight nasal bleeding can occur. Tell the team about changes, especially increasing drainage or pain, and keep follow-up appointments.
