YOUR VISIT, MADE CLEAR

Oral surgery anesthesia. Comfort, planned around you.

Oral surgery anesthesia options include local anesthesia, nitrous oxide, IV sedation, and general anesthesia. Your health and procedure guide the plan. For appropriate patients, general anesthesia allows you to be fully asleep during surgery.

PLAN

Choose appropriate support together.

PREPARE

Know what to do before your visit.

Medical understanding. Thoughtful anesthesia planning.

Dr. Cameron Walsh and Dr. Stefan Vila are both dental and medical doctors, holding DDS and MD degrees. Their training in dentistry, medicine, and oral surgery supports careful assessment of complex medical histories, medications, and previous anesthesia experiences—so your anesthesia plan reflects your overall health as well as your procedure.

Dr. Kevin Sims brings an additional perspective from his pharmacy degree and previous work as a critical care pharmacist. He has also served on the Board of Dental Examiners of Alabama.

This combined experience informs careful planning, medication review, and the monitoring your team provides throughout treatment.

General anesthesia

Produces unconsciousness during treatment when appropriate for the procedure and patient.

Local anesthesia

Numbs the treatment area while you remain awake.

Nitrous oxide

A blend of nitrous oxide and oxygen is inhaled through a nasal mask to help you relax while remaining responsive.

IV sedation

Medication through a vein provides deeper relaxation. You may remember little of the procedure.

An individual plan

Your surgeon reviews your health, medications, and prior anesthesia experiences. The team monitors heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, and oxygen levels during surgery.

Before your appointment

Follow the preparation instructions provided for your procedure. Confirm fasting, medicines, transportation, and aftercare with the office. Do not change prescribed medication on your own.

A plan for comfort after surgery

For full-arch implant surgery, EXPAREL is a standard part of our postoperative pain-control plan when medically appropriate. For other procedures, your surgeon explains whether this long-acting local anesthetic fits your care. It helps manage discomfort after surgery; the duration and degree of relief vary. Your team explains what is included in your treatment estimate and which recovery instructions to follow.
