The day of surgery

Let your child rest with their head elevated. Choose tolerated foods and avoid spicy, acidic, or carbonated choices for a few days. Lip swelling and a pale, soft healing surface may occur.

Starting the next day

The guide includes a lip-stretching exercise to help prevent reattachment. Read the complete technique and frequency and ask the team to clarify before performing it.

Healing and comfort

Keep the mouth clean as directed. Discomfort should ease over time, although complete healing can take several weeks. Follow the child’s medication instructions and call with concerns.
